7-6
The Ice Dome was packed full of Bulls and Hawks fans here to see their teams compete for the new prestigious Play station cup. In Saturdays first leg game it was end to end stuff this result sets up and hum dinger for next Saturday night when the two teams go head to head for the right to be crowned Play Station champions
In the 1st period the Hawks raced into 4-0 lead over the Irish champions but gradually the Bulls started to get into the game, this was their 1st competitive game as a team this season. Sean Dooley pulled one back at the end of that first period.
Second period was all the Bulls getting two quick goals through Eric Hogberg, now it was a 4-3 game on then the Bulls new caption Trevor Blanchard made a quick break away to tie the game 4-4 at the end of the
2nd period.
The 3rd period saw the bulls go 5-4 up in this sea saw game only for the Hawks to tie it up at 5-5 Mats Ajneso made it 6-5 to the Bulls. The Bulls where awarded a penalty shot to put the game out of reach however
they failed to convert this and that was the turning point and the wake up call to the Hawks who got 2 quick break away goals to win the game 7-6.
The second leg of the competition is at the Ice Dome next Saturday 13th with a 7.30pm face-off. It promises to be a great night of Hockey with the Bulls and the Hawks ready to entertain the fans with another fantastic, fast flowing match.
Just a note on the refereeing in this game was of a very high standard and we thank Will Fay Chief Referee for the IIHA and his crew for a great job.
