The Coors Belfast Giants have confirmed that they will be playing two warmup games against a Dundalk Bulls/Latvian Hawks Select Team on Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st of August at the Dundalk Ice Dome.
This will be a fun and exciting weekend of ice hockey for fans of the Belfast Giants as well as supporters of the Irish Ice Hockey League to get their first look at the 2008-09 Coors Belfast Giants and to support the sport of ice hockey throughout the island.
Coach Steve Thornton is looking forward to playing the two ‘friendly’ games in August before the regular season kicks off the next weekend.
"I'm looking forward to getting our guys on the ice in game situations and I'm also excited to be able to give the fans of Irish Ice Hockey something to look forward to as well. The Bulls and the Hawks will be putting together a select team that can compete with us, they might even be bringing some pros over from Latvia for the weekend."
Tony Griffin was excited about the weekend of top-flite hockey at the IceDome.
"We had a great weekend last year with the Giants and their fans and we are hoping to build on that and make it even more entertaining for everyone coming out to watch the games. The guys on the Bulls and Hawks will be competing for spots over the next few weeks to play against the Giants and I know they will all be looking for the opportunity to play the pros."
On Sunday 31st of August after the final match, the Belfast Giants will have a Jersey Signing night in the Dundalk Ice Dome for all the fans. Everyone is welcome to stick around and meet the guys.
Tickets will be available from Monday, July 28th at the Belfast Giants Office in Ormeau Business Park or from the Dundalk Ice Dome.
